The human instinct to belong, to find that sense of place which is a theme which runs throughout my work. At odds is the desire to explore, seek out the unfamiliar and the beauty, sometimes foreboding. To experience the world via unfamiliar pathways and landscapes in a quest to find the way back to the familiar, all are interwoven and frequently crossover.
Early influences are eclectic but relevant to me as inspiriation. Dore, Daumier, Hopper, Rothko and Grimshaw. Spirituality and emotionally driven all.
Home is important to me. It’s been a moving target in my life which created a restlessness. But I believe I’ve finally found that pathway home.
